Many more groups under the UN, the governments of France and Peru and major individual business organizations have just added their signatures into the NAZCA climate action portal, underwriting their commitments to take climate action

The latest surge in new pledges and signatories underlines how leading cities, regions, companies and investors are acting to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and make economies and societies more resilient to climate change. This information also adds new momentum to global efforts to reach an effective new, universal climate change agreement in Paris, in December.

The new information includes commitments from 24 regions, as well as 99 new signatories to a number of cooperative initiatives including the Compact of Mayors, Compact of States and Regions, Montréal Carbon Pledge, New York Declaration on Forests, Portfolio Decarbonization Coalition, Put a price on carbon, RE100, Remove commodity-driven deforestation, Science based targets and the Under 2 MOU.

These cooperative commitments are built on the outcomes of the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Summit in September of last year.

The NAZCA portal, which is capturing commitments to act on climate change that can also be independently assessed, aims to add many more signatories in the lead-up to the Paris climate negotiations.
