The Paris UN climate conference in December 2015 will deliver a new universal climate change agreement. The new agreement is aimed at putting the world firmly on track to a low-carbon, sustainable future that keeps  a global temperature rise under 2 degrees C

The Climate Action Arena is a dedicated space that will give recognition to the ambition of cities, regions, businesses, civil society groups, trade unions and others to address the threat of climate change. The events listed below will include high-level dialogues, roundtables, debates, film screenings, and press conferences for the Lima-Paris Action Agenda (LPAA) - all of which will highlight how both state and non-state actors are playing their whole part to keep global temperature rise below 2 degrees Celsius.

The focus event on Forests will serve as a stepping-stone for future ambitious climate action on forests. It will showcase transformational examples, at the national and subnational level, to make forests and their protection a core element of equitable economic growth and sustainable development. Investing for the Long Term: addressing carbon asset risk

This 90-minute event at COP 21/CMP will bring together a high-level panel of financial analysts, investors and energy companies to discuss how climate change impacts and affects their investment patterns and business models. The dialogue will include a financial analysis, mapping stranded asset risk in a low-carbon world. It will also examine how investors are already incorporating long-term targets in order to facilitate an orderly transition to meet the 2 degree target.

With initiatives such as the World Bank Group’s Joint Statement on Carbon Pricing and the formation of the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition (CPLC), the past year has seen strong momentum for carbon pricing both from business and governments. As growing numbers of jurisdictions implement carbon pricing policies, business needs to be sure that prices will reach levels high enough to drive transformational change. Based on the Pathways Toolkit developed by We Mean Business and CDP as part of the CPLC work plan, this panel will bring together leaders from business and government to discuss the next steps we need to take on this journey.

The LPAA Focus on Short-Lived Climate Pollutants provides an opportunity to address related issues through the commitment of the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) to reduce Short-Lived Climate Pollutants. The CCAC is a voluntary global partnership of governments, intergovernmental organizations, businesses, scientific institutions and civil society committed to catalyzing concrete, substantial action to reduce SLCPs. The Coalition works through collaborative initiatives to raise awareness, mobilize resources and lead transformative actions in key emitting sectors.

This event features two panel discussions of leading Governors and Mayors from the global North and South. Key topics are strategies for achieving low carbon development, practical ways for encouraging cooperative subnational action, and opportunities for integrating subnational action into the multilateral framework for climate action.

This event will create a platform for high-level business executives from varying regions (US, Asia, Latin America) to exchange ideas. This uplifting evening event will celebrate the sixteen 2015 Momentum for Change Lighthouse Activity winners with inspiring videos, photography and an award ceremony. Those Lighthouse Activities are some of the most innovative, scalable and replicable examples of what people are doing to address climate change - this event will celebrate these solutions. At this event, the new Conservation International 'Nature is Speaking' short film will be screened.
