COP 22/CMP 12/CMA 1 will take place at Bab Ighli, Marrakech, Morocco from 7-18 November 2016.

This page is intended to help participants at the Marrakech climate change conference to be prepared for the sessions, find your way to and around the venue, and to be aware of the logistical arrangements and services available at the venue. Please note that information will be updated progressively as it becomes available. It is therefore recommended to check this site regularly for any updates.

The conference site at Bab Ighli will consist of the main conference area, also known as the “Blue Zone”, and space for civil society and other participants also known as the “Green Zone”.

The “Blue Zone” is the venue where all official activities of the COP 22/CMP 12/CMA 1 will take place during the two-week conference. The Blue Zone is placed under the authority of the United Nations and only accessible to registered participants nominated by the Parties and admitted observer organizations. Blue Zone facilities include two plenary halls, 30 meeting rooms and three press rooms, as well as ten rooms reserved for observers. Please see below for a schematic overview map of the venue.

Before the official start of the conference, a number of preparatory meetings will be held at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech and the conference site at Bab Ighli.

The Green Zone next to the Blue Zone is where civil society and others can undertake climate change-related activities. The Green Zone is under the authority of the Kingdom of Morocco. Getting prepared

There are a number of things to bear in mind prior to your arrival. Please follow the link for information related to visas, accommodation, consignments and shipping, etc., which should assist you in preparing for the Marrakech conference.

On-site facilities and services

A large number of services has been envisaged to facilitate your participation and make your time at the conference site as comfortable as possible. In addition, there are two kinds of electrical vehicle available for transfers between the conference site and the 12 hotel zones for participants:

  • Renault COP shuttle service: Participants can request this service at the shuttle service help desk in each designated hotel or at the conference venue shuttle service hub.
  • Toyota UberGreen shuttle service: Participants can download the Uber app available in Google and iTunes stores. Use the code “COP22” to request these electric cars for free hotel transfers. Further information is available at the entry/ exit of the Blue Zone.
  • Please note that the vehicles can transport up to two people and are available on a first-come, first served basis.
